Senior product engineer, web

Build the parts of Tern people use all day: the board, the issue view and the command menu.

You will join the five-person team that builds Tern's web app. We own the board, the issue view, the command menu and the editor, and we care about how each of them feels as much as what it does.

What you will do

Ship a change to production most days, behind a flag when it is big
Own a feature from the first sketch with design to the changelog entry
Keep every screen opening in under 100ms
Take a week of support rotation each quarter, answering customers directly

What you bring

Six or more years building web products in TypeScript and React
Taste: you notice when an interaction is 50ms too slow or a label is wrong
Clear writing, since most of our decisions happen in issues
Experience with real-time sync or local-first apps is a plus

How we hire

An intro call with Tomás, a paid work sample of about four hours, and a team day where you talk it through with the people you would work with. We aim to make an offer within a week of the team day.
