Fennel opened in 2019 with one clinic at Harbor Point and a simple idea: longer visits, with a clinician who knows you, who answers when you write.
Dr. Amara Okafor and Dr. Lena Hartmann met as residents and spent the next decade in busy practices, where a visit often meant twelve minutes and a new face each time. Patients left with prescriptions but without answers, and clinicians went home knowing they had rushed.
They opened Fennel to practice the way they had trained to: enough time to listen, the same clinician every visit, and plain explanations written down afterwards. The first clinic had two exam rooms and a borrowed front desk.
Today Fennel has three clinics, video visits every day of the week and a team of six clinicians, and we still keep the visits long.
Visits run 20 to 50 minutes, so there is room for the second question, the one people often save until the door.
You choose a clinician and keep them. A colleague covers only when they’re away, and reads your notes first.
Every visit ends with a short written summary in the app: what we found, what we agreed and what happens next.
We confirm your copay before the visit, and without insurance every visit has one flat price, shown before you book.
